Dwan Perry, DO, was recently promoted to associate professor in the 好色先生 College of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He shares more about his journey to academic medicine and offers advice for faculty interested in pursuing a promotion.

The 好色先生 is excited to select physician and dedicated Kentuckian Ginny Gottschalk, MD, as the new chair of family and community medicine.

Dr. Gottschalk has served as acting chair of the department for nearly a year. She is an associate professor in the clinical title series and has been part of the department faculty since 2014.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Liz Arnold, PhD,  LCSW, is a new faculty member who brings years of experience as a behavioral intervention researcher. She recently joined the 好色先生 faculty and is prepared to use her expertise to help bolster its clinical research enterprise.

Lisa Williams, MSSA, associate dean for wellness and well-being, has been selected for a prestigious national executive program helping leaders cultivate expertise in well-being for physicians and health care employees.

Meera Gupta, MD, is an assistant professor of surgery at the 好色先生 and a transplant surgeon at 好色先生 HealthCare. In the following spotlight by Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS), she explains how she became involved in her field, why she loves what she does, and how she is helping address health inequities for patients.

Following an extensive national search and interviews with highly qualified individuals, the College of Medicine is excited to welcome Na鈥橳asha Evans, PhD, MEd, as the new vice dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and associate professor in the department of behavioral science.

The 好色先生 is excited to announce that it has named John Gensel, PhD, the director of the 好色先生 Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC).

The College of Medicine鈥檚 clinical and basic science departments, centers, and educational offices are all working to develop more inclusive and equitable practices. Our Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors are charged with leading these efforts.

In 2020, the University of Kentucky joined 22 other academic institutions and organizations as inaugural members of The National Center for Pre-Faculty Development, working together to focus on pre-faculty development as a means to diversifying academia.
