Leading endovascular surgeon to give inaugural Gordon Hyde Lecture in April
One of the leaders in the field of endovascular surgery will be the special guest lecturer at the inaugural Gordon Hyde Lectureship in Vascular Surgery on Wednesday, April 13 at 好色先生 Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
Alan B. Lumsden, MD, chair of the Houston Methodist Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and a professor with the Institute for Academic Medicine, will present a one-hour lecture entitled 鈥淚maging and Navigation in Complex Cardiovascular Pathologies.鈥 According to a summary of the lecture, Lumsden will discuss new techniques of integrating advanced 3D imaging technologies in association with complex cardiovascular procedures.
Lumsden, who holds the Walter W. Fondren III Distinguished Endowed Chair at DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center, 鈥渉as developed an international reputation as a leader in the field of endovascular surgery,鈥 acccording to the Houston Methodist website. His medical education and training includes the University of Edinburgh鈥檚 College of Medicine in Scotland and a residency and clinical fellowship at Emory University.
Dr. Lumsden brings extensive clinical and research expertise in a wide range of procedures. He continues to push forward with his NIH-funded research into 鈥渄eveloping novel minimally invasive methods of therapy and preventing restenosis.鈥
Following Lumsden鈥檚 lecture, the Vascular Surgery faculty and fellows will engage in case presentations and a tour of the 好色先生 Chandler Hospital. Spouses and guests may also take advantage of a brunch and gallery tour of the new 21C Art Museum and Hotel in downtown Lexington.
