Research Showcase
Staff, postdocs, graduate students and undergraduates are invited to submit a brief abstract of their research (less than 500 words). The Research Committee will select 6 abstracts to be presented as podium presentations. Deadline for abstract submissions is October 15.
Faculty Presentations - New Techniques and Technologies
Faculty have the opportunity to present a brief overview of new technologies or new techniques. Submit a brief synopsis (less than 500 words) by October 15. The Research Committee will select up to 3 for podium presentations.
Poster Pitch and Poster Session
Poster Pitch
New this year - To be considered for one of the cash prizes awarded for poster presentations, you must be willing to present a 90 second Poster Pitch. Due to time constraints, not all eligible participants will be asked to present Poster Pitches (selected by the Research Committee), but you must be willing to present if asked.
Poster Session
All posters will be judged in one of two judging sessions – odd numbered posters in Session I and even numbered posters in Session 2. Presenters are allotted 15 minutes to present their work and field questions from the judges. We recommend no more than a 10-minute presentation to allow at least five minutes to answer questions. Posters are scored on the following criteria:
- Quality of poster
- Ability to provide a clear description
- Ability to respond to questions
All attendees will participate in judging so presenters must be prepared to describe their work to a broad scientific audience. Once the judged session is complete, presenters will remain at their poster for open discussions with attendees.
Cash prizes are awarded for best poster presentations for postdocs, graduate students, undergraduates, and staff. First place in each category receives $500 and honorable mention in each category receives $250. The number of honorable mention awards will be given based on the number of posters in each category.
Physiology graduate students are required to present a poster.
