We have good news to share!

Cody Bumgardner, PhD, is a co-investigator on a newly funded grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse titled 鈥淩apid Actionable Data for Opioid Response in Kentucky (RADOR-KY)鈥.  This project is a collaboration with 好色先生 Internal Medicine and 好色先生 Behavioral Science. Jeffrey Talbot, MD, is the PI. Congratulations Dr. Bumgardner!

 

Katie Bussing, MD, William O鈥機onnor, MD, and Justin Rueckert, DO, recently participated in a STEM Camp offered at 好色先生 through the Center for Interprofessional & Community Health Education.  Their section of the camp was titled 鈥淗ow do we keep learning about the body and illness?  Pathologists study organs and tissues affected by disease to find answers for better treatments in the future.鈥  They were commended by the director for doing a wonderful job keeping the students engaged.  See attached pictures of the event.  Great work everyone!

 

Jing Di, MD, has won first prize for the best poster presented at USCAP 2024 in Pulmonary Pathology!  The project titled 鈥淐haracterizing the Small Cell Lung Cancer Tumor Immune Microenvironment for Precision Immunotherapy: A Pilot Study鈥 is a collaboration with Dana Napier, Kim Absher, MD, Emily Bachert, MD, Therese Bocklage, MD, Akif Guney, MD, Justin Miller, PhD, and Dava Piecoro, MD.  Excellent work everyone!

 

Dr. Jing Di also has an abstract titled 鈥淣SD3::NUTM1 Fusion Sarcoma Mimicking Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor: An Exceptional Case Study鈥 that has been accepted for a 5-minute oral presentation in the 25th Annual Duel in Dermatopathology Resident Abstract Competition at the 61st Annual Meeting of The American Society of Dermatopathology (ASDP).

  • He is senior author on a recent publication in Research & Practice in Thrombosis & Haemostasis titled 鈥淚mproved outcomes and cost savings for patients with bleeding disorders: a quality improvement project鈥. 
  • He was recently featured in the AABB News:  Volunteer Spotlight in recognition of his active participation in AABB programs.
  • He was interviewed for the ASCP Critical Values 鈥淭hree Questions鈥 segment .
