Josh Steiner, MD, FACS, FASMBS, director of , announced that the program has received national accreditation under the , a joint quality initiative of the American College of Medicine (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Dr. Steiner and Mary Beth Keaton, BSN, RN, nurse manager of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Weight Loss Surgery, first announced the accreditation at a ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú HealthCare Systems Operations update in mid-September.
The is a comprehensive, nationwide surgical quality program that focuses on a program’s record of outcomes in weight loss and the treatment of obesity-related diseases such as diabetes and sleep apnea.
"Accreditation from the ACS and ASMBS is further evidence that the weight loss surgery program meets the highest standards of quality and safety in its OR procedures and long-term outcomes," Dr. Steiner said.
