Transplant Program Gets Time-out Focus at Rupp Arena

Surgery Chair Performs at Fosson Spring Humanities Festival
On Tuesday, April 5, 2011, the University of Kentucky's medical community came together for this annual showcase of musical entertainment and poetry reading by students, faculty and staff, including Surgery Chairman, Dr. Jay Zwischenberger, performing in Dr. Jim Norton's band, the Rotations. The Festival was sponsored by the ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Medical Center Humanities Project, College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs.

To wrap up Leadership Week, October 29-November 2, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉú Healthcare hosted an ice cream social followed by a thoroughly entertaining, often hilarious, talent contest. Like the TV show, American Idol, judges critiqued the talent, but the final vote was left to the audience. The Surgery Department was well represented.

Mark Bonnell, MD (CT Division) triumphantly won first place for a flawless piano rendition of Chopin’sPosthumous Etude in A Flat Major.
Jay Zwischenberger, MD, Chairman of the Department, and Carl Hatmaker, Sr. Health Data Analyst in the General Surgery Division, won second place for a rollicking performance of Mary Jane’s Last Dance andSweet Home Chicago.
